' create and produce, design a cover, make a video, SERP/SEO keyword research and apply market campaign' type beat
I am done with the, 'create & produce, design a cover, make a video, SERP/SEO keyword research and apply market campaign' type beats.
How To Make Beats
Every single day is a grind, a producer who is trying to make a living just off music seems to be more and more time consumed focusing on other tasks that go along with being an independent music producer. And if you thought finding the right artist(s) was the hard part... let's break down, "How to make beats".
After a beat is created, (mixed and mastered) the producer now must spend time designing a cover image. Afterwards, he or she must create a YouTube video, (Did I forget to mention you have to be novice/advanced designer and movie director/editor?) you upload it, but only after you have researched enough keywords and valuable tags. (Did I forget to mention a music producer is also a SERP, SEO analytics solution personnel?)
Once you upload the beat, the producer has to turn around and do more keyword research and apply them towards an Adwords campaign. Did I forget to mention the music producer has to be fluent in Adwords (Adsense and other monetization platforms)?
Sure, you can pay people to do all that, but as mentioned... a producer who is grinding everyday to live off music (which over 50% of the clients just want a free download anyways), doesn't leave a lot of money for monthly marketing budget. After all, you still need to buy groceries and pay your phone/internet bill and rent/mortgage.
With the wide range of jobs and time these roles consume, it's starting to make an impact not only my performance and creating instrumentals, but also my work ethic in the studio. My noggin just can't handle 100 job titles and pallets of responsibilities that are driving me away from my original purpose.
For these reasons, I will be removing all of my beats and will no longer be posting them online. If I spend 2 or 3 hours making a beat, then another 2 or 3 hours with the cover image and video process and add research time and uploading/updating website(s) - likely another 3 hours, I am left spending 9-12 hours per beat!
My beats will remain available, but I wont be spending time and money displaying them. Beats and instrumentals will be kept in a safe place online for easy access and will be made available to send to artists who are interested.
